VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

  • Expert at Networking Events - We will host networking events in different settings (i.e. – after panel events, in offices, at conferences) in which college students will be placed into small groups with an expert in the biotech industry. Students will have a chance to get to know the expert in an informal, conversational setting. Requirements to commit:

    - Attend event and meet with college students in small groups.

  • Informational Interviews - We are connecting college students with people in their field and job of interest. Professionals will have an informational interview with the student and give them insight into their prospective career path. Volunteer requirement:

    - 30-45 minute informational interview with college student

  • Panel Events – We are hosting panel events with local universities’ diversity organizations & local affinity groups. Our goal is to provide undergraduate and graduate students with an educational panel about careers in biotech and venture with diverse representation. Panelists provide students with insight on their personal journey in the Biotech & Venture Capital industry and students will have a chance to ask questions and interact with panelists. Requirements to commit:

    - Communicating why you are interested in participating and what you are willing to share with the audience

    - One, one-hour phone call, one week before the event to connect panelists and moderators

    - Participation on a 1 hour panel & participation in networking post-event for 45 min to 1 hour (2 hours in total)

  • Mentoring - We would like to provide additional educational opportunities and foster connection to the biotech/ investor community. We are connecting students with professionals for follow up meetings (via zoom, phone or in person). By exposing under-represented students to career possibilities and providing specific career guidance you can help put students on a positive career trajectory. Volunteer requirements:

    - a 30-45 minute introductory meeting with your prospective mentee

    - If the fit is a good match for both parties, then ideally have 1-5 calls or meetings over a 3-6 month period

  • Event Sponsorship - We are a volunteer-led organization. To host these events we require the generosity of biotech and venture capital firms. Are you or your company interested in sponsoring a diversity event?
