What We Do

Bioscience & Investor Inclusion Group (BIIG) is enabling stakeholders from across the life sciences industry to collectively create and develop solutions to accelerate the progress towards a more inclusive biosciences industry.

We’re advancing the diversity, equity and inclusion in life science venture capital and in companies with venture capital ownership.

Our BIIG Mission

Bioscience & Investor Inclusion Group (BIIG) will transform the biosciences sector by galvanizing concrete, meaningful and sustainable change in diversity, equity and inclusion among the investment firms and innovator companies within the sector.

Our Objective

To create and deploy business processes that accelerate the active participation and inclusion of underrepresented groups throughout the bioscience sector, including investment firms and the Boards of Directors and leadership teams of the life sciences companies themselves.

 

How BIIG works

  • Utilizing the BIIG Inclusion framework, action areas will be targeted (initially three) by working groups populated with a diverse group of executives from across the investor and bioscience community.

  • The voluntary members of each working group, in liaison with BIIG, will cearly define the scope of work and the DE&I issues to be targeted, including the timeline for delivering solutions.

  • Working groups will be chaired by a working group member alongside a co-lead.

  • Each working group will also be assigned a liaison from BIIG for advice and guidance, and to ensure coordination across all the working groups.

  • Working groups will be coordinated by BIIG to minimise duplicative efforts and to ensure that proposed solutions can be deployed in concert with solutions from other groups.

  • Working groups will create and develop proacticable DE&I solutions to agreed timelines.

  • BIIG will provide support, approval and promotion of solutions proposed by the working groups.

  • BIIG will operate under a collaborative ethos, analogous to open-source software development, making its DE&I solutions accessible and reproducable to the entire community of bioscience investors and innovators.
